Grace and Love Like Mighty Rivers

While studying the Atonement, (as usual) I had a hard time clearly articulating how the Atonement shows God’s great love and grace through the sinless life and victorious death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

1 John 4:10- In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Romans 3:23-25 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

Grace and love, like mighty rivers,
Poured incessant from above,
And Heav’n’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love.~William Rees. Here is Love
